The example shown on this page is an exhibition created for Planetario Alfa, Mexico. The exhibition was to have two sections, indoor and outdoor. We created all aspects from scientific content, design, murals, and fabrication. We worked closely Mexican scientists and artist Luis Rey to produce the content and murals.
The entire exhibition was delivered to the museum in two forty-foot shipping container and installed by the museum’s installation team.
Dinosaurios Hechos en Mexico
Mexican Dinosaurs was an attempt to disclose and examine a specifically located but poorly understood prehistoric fauna. Gondwana Studios worked closely with Luis Rey who has strong ties with Mexico, spending most of his early life living there. The exhibition became a monograph exclusively dedicated to Mexican prehistory.
It was also the first exhibition of its kind due to its scope and completeness, we wanted much more than simply add some indeterminate animatronic dinosaurs. We managed to complete a small but painstakingly detailed exhibition that became known as “Dinosaurios Hechos En Mexico”. We decided it was time to correctly inform and entertain audiences that were not at all familiar with prehistory fauna of their own country. Visitors can now be counted in the tens of thousands, right from the moment of its opening at the Planetario Alfa in Monterrey, Mexico.

Elements Include:
- A collection of resin fossil casts.
- 7 full-size electric motor driven life-like animatronics
(including a 16 metre sauropod). - 7 wall mounted interpretive panels.
- 11 Large mural artworks by Luis Rey.
- 3 dig pits (2 x indoor and 1 x outdoor, 7meters x 3 metres).
Specifications & Exhibition Display Area
The size of the exhibition is 600m2, including the outdoor displays.
To be provided by the hosting venue:
- Scenery, backdrops, lights, and barriers.
- Single-phase electrical supply.
- Translation of text and production of text panels and graphics if necessary.
- Transportation costs and insurance (transit and public liability) for exhibition.
- Equipment required for access, installation and dismantling.
- Skilled support staff to assist with installation and dismantling.
- Storage facilities for transport cases.
- Promotion and publicity.
- Staffing during exhibition run.
Duration and Fee
Custom exhibitions can be permanent or temporary according to the requirements of the exhibition venue.
Lease or purchase fee available on request.
Audiences
The content of the exhibition has been designed to attract an audience made up of both adults accompanied by children (family groups) and educational and school groups, to whom it will provide a unique, interactive, and stimulating experience.
